The Ferplast Karat 80 is the middle model in the 3 cage range of Ferplast glass hamster cages — there's also the smaller Karat 60 Hamster and Mouse Glass Cage and the larger Karat 100 Hamster and Mouse Glass Cage.
The Karat 80 is a rectangular glass hamster cage (also known as a tank style cage or terrarium) that has a large wire mesh cage sitting on top of it.
The wire mesh cage is big enough to hold two separate platforms that provide additional living areas for your hamster.
The Karat 80 cage dimensions are:
The platforms can be linked to each other and to the bottom of the glass cage area by using the supplied ramps.
As well as the free platforms and ramps the Karat 80 also comes with the following:
Please note the exercise wheel will more than likely need to be replaced with a larger wheel for a fully grown hamster.
The deep glass cage part that makes up the base provides an area deep enough for your hamster to be able to burrow, explore or nest.
You may be wondering about the possibility of the wooden accessories soaking up hamster ‘you-know-what’ but there's no need to worry as those parts have special liquid resistant surfaces.
Glass hamster cages obviously provide a much better opportunity for viewing your pet hamster than just about any other style of hamster cages.
Some of the other types of hamster cages (for example plastic modular hamster cages) can be a bit of a chore to clean due to them being so fiddly.
With the Karat 80 being mostly glass though it's a fairly quick and easy job to clean the inside of the glass section. However one thing to be aware of is that being glass it's heavier than other styles of hamster cage and so is not as easy to move for cleaning.
